Hot Sauce & CU pennies

Not sure where I learned this trick, but, it works like this;
(sorry if bosted before)

1. Take a plastic cap or small cup and pour some decent hot sauce (goya works just fine) in it, amount to be judged on how many pennies you put in.

2. Put the CU pennies you want to clean in the container you selected.

3. Move them around gently and let sit for several minutes after they have all been submerged.

4. Next, rinse container out with forceful water, drain contents.

5. Dump pennies onto clean towel and blot dry.

6. Enjoy your newly cleaned and bright CU pennies with no added scratches. The results are amazing.

Will post some pics,

You can do this with ketchup, or even just straight vinegar. :)

Guess that's why the hot sauce works so well. I figured it may add a little extra punch b/c of the other ingredients acting as a soft abrasive agent. Don't know only a theory. Will compare to vinegar.

Ever tried on AG?

Do you mean Cu and Ag?

Tried it on CU only,
not on AG.

Well if you like hot sauce,....try this one, it's extremely violent, more than 2 DROPS in say a bowl of soup, and you probably won't be able to eat it.....

I'm an avid hot sauce fan, but it took me six months to use a whole bottle of Dave's Insanity Sauce.

It is truly hot, but I consider it a novelty only. It is too hot to appreciate any flavor from it.

My favorite hot sauce at the moment is El Yucateco Kutbil-Ik. It's 11,600 Scoville's, so it's very hot yet very flavorful. Dave's Insanity Sauce is 180,000 Scoville's, which is good for inducing an endorphin rush, but not good for flavoring food.

Capsaicin

0-100 Scoville Units includes most Bell/Sweet pepper varieties.
500-1000 Scoville Units includes New Mexican peppers.
1,000-1,500 Scoville Units includes Espanola peppers.
1,000-2,000 Scoville Units includes Ancho & Pasilla peppers.
1,000-2,500 Scoville Units includes Cascabel & Cherry peppers.
2,500-5,000 Scoville Units includes Jalapeno & Mirasol peppers.
5,000-15,000 Scoville Units includes Serrano peppers.
15,000-30,000 Scoville Units includes de Arbol peppers.
30,000-50,000 Scoville Units includes Cayenne & Tabasco peppers.
50,000-100,000 Scoville Units includes Chiltepin peppers
100,000-350,000 Scoville Units includes Scotch Bonnet & Thai peppers.
200,000 to 300,000 Scoville Units includes Habanero peppers.
Around 16,000,000 Scoville Units is Pure Capsaicin.

I really like where this thread is going!!

Someone mentioned Tapatio- very good stuff.
Now I have to think of others.

You always have to have a large Bottle of Goya just as backup...

See, these are good to have for certain foods, for instance some chinese dishes, However, many foods that I like to eat with hot sauce, require more of a "douser" than a 2 dropper. Perhaps I like the flavor and being able to scale intensity up if need be while not ruining my food.

I second the Sriracha for everyday use in cooking.
Primarily, for cooking, I use ground cayenne.
For actually obtaining a hot sauce flavor I use Frank's or this stuff that is made with Scotch Bonnets and Mango and has a toucan on the bottle (out of it at the moment).

A bottle of the last stuff would probably sell in Louisiana, we use Tabasco for trade Purposes.

That is what we use every day....I like the green on my eggs in the morn.

I'm a hot sauce freak....also try Cholula better than Tapatio. I noticed somebody mentioned the kickin chicken (Sriracha) it has a nice garlic bite to it.El Pato is a good one and my mothers favorite for years was PICO PICA , it's great definitely worth a try.
Just checked the fridge and counted 17 different bottles of hot sauce OMG!

OK, we have zero hot sauce on site at our house. Wife and kids would never use it....it would be just for me.....

If there was only one hot sauce that could be had and it needed to meet the use requirements of me and perhaps any visitors that requested some.....what should I get?

This has been a question I have been pondering for a while.....Tabasco? They seem to be the most marketed...as it is the only one I could name off the top of my head....

I'm with you AGRO, that's what I'm use to,sprinkling say Tabasco all over my food, but compared to this sauce, Tabasco tastes like plain vinegar, if you were to sprinkle this all over your food, you would not be able to eat it...

This is quite intriguing, but, it looks like a broken cassette tape inside a bottle!! What is it that we are looking at?

Basically that is just fancy paper which keeps the medical grade vial 'safe'.

This stuff is not a sauce.. it is actually crystal pure Capsaicin (The FULL 16 million Scoville Unit stuff), so what they did was they sealed it in a medical grade vial and if you were ever to use it you are supposed to open it, take a single crystal out and use that alone to spice your entire pot of chile or whatnot. I read somewhere that one salt grain sized crystal of this stuff is so strong it can overheat something like 5 gallons. It is crazy strong (and really really dangerous..haha).

Pretty crazy stuff really..

They were... either 250 or 300 bucks when they were available.. haha. They sold out 3-4 years ago though.. and only 999 of them were made.

Still I couldn't let them go by.. and bought one. Then I thought to myself "What if I ever wanted to try it?" so I bought a 2nd one. I have a number of other Reserve Bottles from Blair (The guy who makes this stuff) so it is like a mini collection of deadly hotsauciry.

J-son, that site has a quote about the 16 million Blair's reserve that just made my day

Quote:

Wear eye protection and gloves, and use tweezers when handling. You don’t want to end up with two crystals in your sauce. Blair’s 16 Million compares to tabasco the way a bottle rocket compares to Nagasaki, the New York Post wrote.

haha, Not quite.

I have two Bottles of the 16 Million, Two Halloween Specials, a Christmas Special, the 4th of July Special, and then a couple of the 2AM and 3AMs..

I check eBay once in awhile to see if these things ever might be sellable for some crazy profit since I hear stories of the 4AM and 5AM going for over a thousand each at times.

If anyone wants, I can take some pictures of my little collection so you can see all the different bottles and such.

It took us about 3 years to polish off one bottle of Dave's Total Insanity. Then I bought a bottle of "Da Bomb", and still have it. When I do use it, I dip a toothpick in and slather less than a drop on a slice of pizza.

These days I grow my own Thai peppers, dehydrate them, then grind them up in a "Magic Bullet". The pepper powder I put in a salt shaker. That way I can get just the amount of heat I want without the hassle of trying to get some thick sauce out of a bottle.
